Nylon Stockings

When I was a kid, I couldn't wait to get to wear pantyhose.  I thought they were such a "grownup" thing to wear and I thought they really made the female leg look so sleek and even-toned.  Thank God I grew out of that phase!  I can't even imagine putting on a pair of those things now.  Yuck!  Here is an interesting fact about nylon stockings though.  In WWII, parachutes were made out of nylon.  So due to the shortage of nylon, women would use eyeliner to draw lines down the backs of their legs to give the illusion of seamed stockings.  Also, tea and gravy were used to stain the legs to get the nylon stocking look. Ah, the things women do in the name of "beauty." Yeah, whatever...
