When I get to work in the morning, one of the first things I do is open my email and go through the junk and delete it and then I read the ones that are pertinent to me. I opened a couple that were mostly just informative stuff and then I opened one from the second shift supervisor that made me laugh (a lot). Here's what made me laugh, verbatim:
To All: Does anyone know what happen to the pop up safety flag that belongs in the holder on the wall at the north end of the building, by the men and demons restrooms.
My reply, verbatim:
Demons? Really? We’re not really that bad…lmao! And no, I don’t know what happened to it.
By the way, the 2nd shift supervisor is a woman.

Hunter Spanjer
Hunter Spanjer is a deaf three-year-old who attends school in the Grand Island Public School district in Nebraska. When he signs his name with the registered sign through S.E.E. (Signing Exact English), he crosses his forefinger and index finger and moves his hand up and down. His school district claims that it violates a rule that forbids anything in the school that looks like a weapon and the administrators are asking his family to change his sign language name.
Jack Sheard, Grand Island Public Schools spokesperson told KOLN tv, "We are working with the parents to come to the best solution we can for the child."
I know, let's ask the administrators to change their names. Maybe we can even give them a selection of names to choose from. Hmmm, let's see: Ignorant Ass, Idiot, Asshole, Dickhead, Dumbfuck, Son of a Bitch, Moron, Numbnuts, Prick. That's a pretty nice selection.

Old Woman Painting Restoration Fail
Taken directly from The Inquisitor:
A painting of Jesus Christ that hung on the walls of the Sanctuary of Mercy Church in Spain was in desperate need of a touch up. So an elderly parishioner decided to do everyone a favor and restore the fresco herself. Well, it didn’t turn out well.
The woman, in her 80s, completely destroyed the painting.
The BBC reports that the Jesus Christ fresco, Ecce Homo (Behold the Man) by Elias Garcia Martinez, had been in the church for over 100 years and had started to deteriorate due to moisture. The woman noticed that the painting needed a touch up so she brought her supplies to the church and started painting. Church officials didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late.
Juan Maria Ojeda, the City Councillor in charge of cultural affairs, said:
“I think she had good intentions. Next week she will meet with a repairer and explain what kind of materials she used…. If we can’t fix it, we will probably cover the wall with a photo of the painting.”
The BBC notes that the fresco wasn’t particularly valuable, but it did have plenty of sentimental value for the church.

Foolish, Ignorant Men
I was first made aware of the comments Congressman Todd Aiken made about rape and pregnancy by my fellow blogger Carrie Cann of Carrie's Bar & Grill (see sidebar) early Monday morning while reading her blog. I was instantly furious and dumbfounded that a grown man could have such ill-conceived notions in this day and age. What a f***ing, ignorant MORON!! And don't even get me started on Paul Ryan! I came across this nice little "ad" on one of my facebook pal's timeline. I thought it to be quite fitting. I don't like discussing politics unless it's with people I trust won't judge me based on my opinions or beliefs and I afford them the same courtesy, but not this time. The Romney/Ryan presidency will be the death of America and I will not stay quiet. We must not allow Romney to become president.

Sadness Part 2
The sadness will never completely go away, but it has mostly turned into relief. M lost her battle with cancer last Friday morning around 7:30. Since I was on vacation that day with my family, I received my notification around 8:30. I was saddened and yet relieved that the suffering and waiting for the inevitable was finally over for her, but mostly for her family. What a difficult last couple of weeks this must have been.
I was asked Friday afternoon if I could get the music together for the slide show her family wanted to put together for the visitation. Of course, I was more than happy to do that and spent several hours Saturday morning getting that stuff together so J could make the 45 min trip into Findlay to pick it up.
I did attend the visitation yesterday evening...it was hard, but I'm glad I got a chance to see a portion of the slide show that was playing on the church wall that had pictures of M looking healthy and smiling in every one of them...she was a beautiful person with a beautiful soul. She will be missed forever.

Happy Birthday Rocky
37 years ago today, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" movie premiered in England. It has the longest-running theatrical release of all time and one of the best soundtracks of all time! I still get a kick out of watching it.
In 2005, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Dishwashers Galore (A Different Perspective)
The warehouse flooded Friday morning around 3 a.m. with a really heavy thunderstorm. The water was gushing in up through the manhole in the floor. The wet boxes on the bottom gave way after they soaked up too much of the water and subsequently, this was the outcome. Unfortunately, I have seen this more than once. It's a pain in the ass to clean up for sure. One of the towmotor drivers named it 'Towmotor Jenga'. Kind of an accurate way to describe it.

I was cleaning yesterday for the arrival of my out-of-town family. I'm sort of a good housekeeper, but apparantly not a great one. I pulled the glider rocker away from the wall to dust the back of it and I found this...it's a package of marshmallow snowmen that belonged to one of the grandkids when they were here at Christmas...in 2010! One of them must have shoved it behind the back cushion against the spindles and that's where they have lived since then. I was mortified, but laughed so hard! And no, I didn't eat one. LOL!

Sadness
My friend J at work has a niece who is dying of cancer. She is only 33. She's been fighting the cancer for approximately 4 years. It started off as breast cancer and has reappeared in multiple areas over the years. She has fought so hard by having surgery, chemo and radiation and has even traveled to Mexico for some kind of special treatment. None of it has worked for very long. Now her liver is distended and enlarged and is pushing against her stomach. Eventually, her stomach will cut off her breathing. I am having a hard time dealing with it...I've only met her once, but I feel like I know her very well just by listening to the stories J tells me. I also work with her father and our first grandchildren were born just a couple of months apart. We used to exchange stories and show off pictures a lot when they were babies. It has been a rocky road for him the last couple of years and he has been in denial about his daugher's illness. I think it will finally hit him hard now. Hospice has been called in and I think it will just be a matter of a few days to a couple of weeks. She'll leave behind a wonderful husband and a sweet 7 year old boy who both love her like crazy. I can't quit thinking about how her death is going to affect so many people...even me. She is a wonderful person and deserves more in life than she's going to get. This one's gonna be bad...
